For The Love of Art

I paint, there for I am.

Well, that kinda sucks!! But seriously folks...it's pretty true in my case. I'm pretty much a nobody in art but in my community, I'm just trying to leave an impression in my local schools and it's students.

I have a cool story to tell about how I started painting and I just want to share it with the students in my community and around the world for that matter.

I'm sleepy, so I will elaborate on this in a few days.

A New Begining in Art

It's a new day and a new beginning for me in art. After discovering the ease of building and maintaining my own website through he magic of Homestead, I am more free to begin creating new original works of art and making prints of them.
The photo I have added in this blog is that of my first set of prints. This print is from a painting I did in 2007 during a couple of days of art workshops at Clayburn Middle School in Abbotsford, BC. I have received a lot of great feed back on the painting and many request for prints and now after the long term signing by Luongo with the Vancouver Canucks, I thought this would be a good painting to make my first set of prints.
The prints are a 11x 17 open edition and sell for $20 plus shipping.
There will be more prints in the coming months.

my first blog

Well, here it is...my first blog ever. What better way to start off than to explain what the heck the picture to right is all about.

In 2003 at the tender age of 37, I was commissioned to paint a few cougar images in a new Abbotsford area middle school...the funny part is that I didn't know how to paint. The only painting I ever did was back in school and I wasn't any good at then so I never continued with it. As I sat in front of this post desperately trying to figure out how paint this cougar, I stood up to walk out and never start and simply walk away from the project. Something told me not to leave and after about 15 minutes or so, I decided to give it a shot and started painting. The picture to right was the end result and thus my first painting and introduction to the world of murals.

I have since gone on to paint in a number of other schools and businesses, learning and teaching myself how to improve my skills as an artist. I am a completely self-taught artist and enjoy the challanges of every new project.

Cheers!
